Cyno-Ops: A global meeting point for K9 specialists

Cyno-Ops has established itself as a key event on the international calendar for the working dog community. Set to return on 24–26 September 2025 at La Roche-sur-Foron’s Parc des Expositions, ROCHEXPO, the event continues to unite experts from around the world who rely on the operational capabilities of dogs in the field.

Originally created in 2018 by two French Gendarmerie dog handlers, Cyno-Ops was designed to bring together professionals from law enforcement, the military, customs, and other official agencies who utilise dogs as essential working partners. Despite its growing influence and international reach, the event has maintained its expert, close-knit character – a defining trait that continues to appeal to elite K9 units worldwide. Because Cyno-Ops is reserved for industry professionals, all participants are required to obtain a pass in their name to attend, access the exhibition village, and take part in the conference sessions and other events.

A highly specialised platform for knowledge exchange

With over 400 attendees and around 30 exhibitors in 2024, Cyno-Ops attracts a dedicated and highly skilled audience. Participants hail not only from across France but also from countries as diverse as South Africa, Brazil, Canada, Poland, the United States, and beyond. What sets the event apart is its laser focus on the unique needs of the cynotechnical community. The programme combines high-level technical, scientific and operational conference sessions with hands-on demonstrations and product showcases.

The 2025 edition will once again offer a compelling programme of conference sessions, led by some of the most respected experts in the field. Among the highlights will be a detailed presentation by veterinary surgeons from the ADVETIA Veterinary Hospital Centre, focusing on the management of RAID dogs injured during operations. This session will address operational needs and explore the evolution of emergency response and veterinary support, reflecting the growing importance of medical intervention in preserving the lives of injured working dogs. Another notable talk will revisit the role of K9 units during the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris, offering an inside look into how these teams were integrated into the security apparatus of one of the largest sporting events in the world.

Other sessions will explore the deployment of tracking and detection dogs in counter-terrorism and counter-intelligence environments, offering real-world insights into how K9 units operate in high-risk, intelligence-driven contexts. International collaboration will also be in focus, with presentations from the Commando Unit of the Portuguese Navy (Fuzileiros Cinotecnia – Marinha de Guerra), as well as the Special Police Unit of the Federal Police Administration of Bosnia and Herzegovina. These sessions will give participants a rare glimpse into the training methods, mission types and strategic doctrines used by elite foreign forces, reinforcing Cyno-Ops’ status as a truly international event.

An event designed by experts, for experts

Cyno-Ops is more than just a seminar – it is a professional ecosystem shaped by those who understand the field intimately. Its strength lies in its ultra-specialisation: it is an event built for operational handlers, trainers, and decision-makers who are directly involved in the deployment and advancement of K9 capabilities. The exhibition village showcases premium-grade equipment tailored specifically for working dogs and their handlers.

Whether it’s the exchange of operational insights or the discovery of new tools and techniques, Cyno-Ops continues to fulfil a crucial need within the international K9 landscape – offering a platform where the natural abilities of dogs are not only recognised but refined through shared knowledge. With its unique blend of hands-on experience, high-level dialogue, and global representation, the event remains a cornerstone for professionals who rely on the bond between human and dog to carry out critical, often life-saving missions.
