Aclima appoints Christian Lodgaard as CEO amid growth and innovation plans

Aclima, the Norwegian wool garment specialist, has announced the appointment of Christian Lodgaard as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective 1 September 2025

As Christian Lodgaard as CEO, Aclima is setting its sights on expanding its global footprint in the defence, outdoor and contract sectors. The transition marks a new chapter in the company’s strategic development, with current CEO Hans Petter Jacobsen set to remain in an administrative capacity, supporting a smooth leadership handover.

Founded in 1939, Aclima is known for developing high-performance base- and mid-layer wool garments for use in some of the world’s most demanding conditions. The company supplies flame-resistant, insulating, and breathable underwear to several NATO armed forces and emergency services, including the Norwegian Army, Swedish Defence, Danish Forces, and civil protection units.

Aclima was also a partner in the recent development of the Nordic Combat Uniform (NCU), a joint initiative between the Nordic countries to produce a fully integrated system designed for extreme environments. As part of the NCU programme, Aclima contributed woollen underwear developed for arctic to desert conditions.

New leadership to support strategic expansion

Lodgaard brings over three decades of executive experience, including senior roles at furniture group Flokk, where he successfully led product innovation and business transformation. His appointment signals Aclima’s intention to scale its operations while reinforcing its commitment to sustainable, high-quality performance wear.

“We are thrilled to welcome Christian to Aclima,” said Camilo Sjödin, CEO of Open Air Group and Chairman of Aclima AS. “His vision, experience, and expertise align perfectly with our commitment to pioneering sustainable solutions in our industry. Christian’s background will undoubtedly strengthen our efforts to expand our market reach and enhance our product offerings.”

Lodgaard has expressed enthusiasm for the role, highlighting plans to enhance the brand’s product offering and international reach, particularly within outdoor retail and the contract sector.

With Aclima’s experience in supplying technical wool garments to armed forces in Norway, Sweden, Belgium, and Estonia, alongside its role in the Nordic Combat Uniform project, the company is well positioned to continue developing clothing systems for demanding environments. As Lodgaard takes the reins, Aclima is expected to build on this foundation and further strengthen its role in sustainable wool-based technical garments for both professional users and environmentally conscious consumers.
